Bioinformatics minicourse

Lifecodes launched its first minicourse on bioinformatics at Cupertino Library! This course focused on teaching students the basics of analyzing genetic data using accessible online tools and culminated in a final presentation. Students used the BRCA1/2 gene as a main example in the interactive lectures and dry labs, studying real BRCA data from studies of breast cancer. They learned how to convert the data into meaningful gene variant information and gain insights into genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and bioethics.
